S-501 Open Swage Sockets

S-501 Open Swage Sockets

Features

  • Swage socket terminations have an efficiency rating of 100% based on the catalog strength of the wire rope.
  • Forged from special bar quality carbon steel, suitable for cold forming.
  • Hardness controlled by spheroidize annealing.
  • The shank carries a machined reduced area equal to the correct after‑swage dimension. Before swaging you can see the step; after swaging the shank is uniform, which is the QUIC‑CHECK® gauge and a permanent visual inspection point.
  • Can be stamped for identification after swaging without risk of fractures, following the Wire Rope End Terminations manual.
  • Recommended for 6×19 or 6×37 rope, IPS or XIP (EIP), XXIP (EEIP), RRL, fibre core or IWRC.
  • Under ASME B30.9, every sling terminated with a swage socket must be proof loaded.

† S‑501B is the assembly with bolt, nut and cotter pin. Ultimate loads for 3/4” through 1‑1/4” have been increased to meet the requirement for 8‑strand 2160 grade pendants. Maximum proof load must not exceed 50% of the XXIP catalog breaking strength. Fittings are designed for the exact rope sizes listed.

Ultimate load is a break figure for the fitting, not a working load limit. Apply the design factor the job calls for — 5:1 for most overhead lifting.

We swage in house up to 1‑1/4” and proof test every assembly. Send us the rope and the fitting, or let us supply both.
