A grab hook shortens a chain leg. You drop a link into the throat and the hook grips it, so one sling covers a range of lengths instead of hanging slack over a short load.
The A-1358 attaches with a clevis and pin, straight onto the chain, with no coupling link in between.

- Fatigue rated at 1-1/2 times the Working Load Limit at 20,000 cycles.
